HLHJ, I have added this row onto the cheat sheet. Ilex verticillata (talk) 00:44, 28 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, thank you, Ilex verticillata! I'd completely forgotten I ever made this comment. I'm glad you took it up and did something. Welcome to Wikipedia, and please feel free to ping me if you need info or help for anything. HLHJ (talk) 00:56, 28 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 4 April 2023

In the citations section of the cheatsheet, there is an example given like this: "Hello again!(ref name="LoC" /)(ref)". This is an error, because the "/" should be inside the second <ref> statement to close it, rather than in the main body of the ref. The corrected text should be: "Hello again!(ref name="LoC")(/ref)" Note that i've replaced < with ( here for the formatting of this suggestion - I don't actually want there to be references here. Williamthurston2000 (talk) 16:16, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: the example is correct. M.Bitton (talk) 16:23, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

help on the editor itself? (vs. wikitext)

The page is called "Editing help," not "Wikitext help," and I came here because I was editing another page and found to my surprise that typing ⌘F (I'm on a Mac) didn't let me search the page's text, but instead seemed to insert something into it. So I was looking for help on how to operate the actual editor, rather than on what content to put in the page. I know this isn't the place to ask my specific question, but I'm using it as an example of a kind of help I think would be, uh, helpful. (P.S. Turned out I was really typing ⌘V, duh. I'm a self-taught typist. But I think the general point may still apply?) Briankharvey (talk) 03:05, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Claude Lassonde

Biographie en anglais Master’s degree in composition through the faculty of music at the University of Montréal with Serge Garant, André Prévost; electroacoustic studies with Marcelle Deschênes and Francis Dhomont. Also studied with Raymond Daveluy, Jacques Faubert, Wolfgang Bottenberg et Michel Longtin.

Administrative director (1989-91) of the "Association pour la création et la recherche électroacoustiques du Québec", ACREQ, director of production (1988-89). President and founder of the "Société de concerts alternatifs du Québec", SCAQ (1982). Concert master in classical guitar and gifted guitar improviser in free jazz. Recording SIlène-Décade double CD at Universal Music Canada XXI-CD-1646 and another double CD "Les multiples visages de Silène" at "Société métropolitaine du disque”. His music garnered praise from Keith Emerson, Robert Fripp, Robert Moog, and suprisingly, Claude Gingras! His catalogue includes an opera, orchestral pieces, for various chamber music ensembles, computer music, electroacoustics, improvisation and free jazz.

After a promising start: scholarships, commissions and concerts, life had lead him to withdraw most of his professional efforts from the field. However, music has remained a passion. His compositions are the result of gestures imbued with the pleasure of creating music. They attempt to melodically express emotions modulated by amazing movement and imaginative sound color.

« Who am I? First of all, a normal guy, simple, who loves life, to laugh, good food, peace and calm. Like plenty of my contemporaries in the life we’ve lead, I’ve had plenty of personalities.

There is the suburban family man, very proud of his two children, married to Johanne, his partner well-loved for more than 50 years. There was the independant worker, microcomputer analyst, then the cook for the mouths to feed… There is the musician, jazz improviser, always waiting for the next jam session. There was the musician looking for a gig. There is the manual laborer, the Luthier. There was the one tormented by life. There is the secretive person, who likes anonymity, who you wouldn’t know...

And, there was the composer :

Before everything, let’s say that I hate what is easy, commercial and preconceived, writing missing direction and especially characters. I like mystery. I am fascinated with the beauty and complexity of the universe.

I want to express myself with complete freedom, approaching the limits of what is possible, without indulging in the triviality of elitism. For me, composition is the fruit of an introspective and eclectic quest. My creation leads to the achievement of an ideal with a beauty inspired by our own “québécitude” , seeking eclecticism in its footprints.

I am not looking for social recognition. I have never entered in contests or imposed myself upon others to be played. I prefer to let my music live or die. Sometimes, erasing is beneficial for free composition, you be the judge… »
