Nikita Sembowski[1] (born November 3, 2001),[2] known professionally as Nihachu, is a German[3] Twitch streamer and YouTuber best known for her gaming commentary and vlogs. Sembowski gained popularity after appearing on AustinShow's Love or Host and her participation in the Dream SMP.[4] Sembowski is also currently a member of Guild Esports.[3][4]
As of November 2024[update], Sembowski has a combined following of over 4 million across YouTube and Twitch.[a]
Early life
Nikita Sembowski was born on November 3, 2001 in Germany.[2] She was kidnapped at six by her mother's ex-husband, and remained kidnapped for three years before being rescued by her mother and her mother's new boyfriend.[5]: 1:22–2:35 She moved out of her home in Switzerland at 17, moving to Berlin, Germany, where she returned to school.[5]: 8:37 After finishing school, she decided she wouldn't attend university to study medicine, and would instead become a content creator.[5]: 10:45
Career
History
2016–2020: Beginnings, Love or Host and Dream SMP
Sembowski began streaming in 2016, after an operation with her knee rendered her unable to walk for approximately a year. She created gameplay content of The Sims and reading creepypastas in German.[4]
In 2020, she appeared on AustinShow's Love or Host, which helped her overall online growth. Her popularity continued to grow as she joined the Dream SMP, boosting her viewer count.[4] Sembowski changed her hair color on December 31, 2020 from blonde to bright pink, causing her to trend on the front page of X (known then as Twitter).[6]
2020–present: Guild Esports and ЯReboot
In 2021, Sembowski signed with Guild Esports.[7] Sembowski was ranked in the top 20 most popular women streamers on Twitch, in 6th place.[8] She was also a frequent competitor of MC Championship from 2020 to 2022.[9]
In 2022, Sembowski started a new gaming series called ЯReboot. The first episode was streamed on October 26, 2022.
Philanthropy
In June 2022, Sembowski participated in a Minecraft charity tournament held by the MC Championship called MCC Pride with several other online creators. The event managed to raise over $145,000 for The Trevor Project.[10][11]
Personal life
Sembowski described her childhood as "never [having] much stability",[5]: 1:19 with her mother becoming an alcoholic, leading to her having a "very hostile" home life.[5]: 4:09 She is pansexual.[12] She has also struggled with body dysmorphia, eating disorders[4] and eisoptrophobia.[5]: 29:56
She has lived in seven countries, including Germany, Spain, Austria, England, Sweden, Switzerland, and the US, and speaks three languages: German, Spanish, and English.[12] Due to this, she is no longer affected by culture shock.[5]: 4:51
