Draft:Indian Enterprise Development Service
The Indian Enterprise Development Service is one of the Civil Services of India. IEDS is under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MoMSME). The creation of the service was approved in 2016[1], with the initial constitution of the service happening through the promotion of existing officers of Ministry of MSME.
An official communication stated that[2]:
The creation of the new cadre and change in structure will not only strengthen the organization but will also help to achieve the vision of “Startup India”, “Stand-up India” and “Make in India”. The measure will enhance the capacity and efficiency of the organization and also help in achieving growth in MSME sector through a focussed and dedicated cadre of technical officers.
A notification in The Gazette of India, published the Indian Enterprise Development Service Rules, 2019[3] on 31st July, 2019, giving the details of the initial constitution, future maintenance, probation, seniority and other rules of the IEDS.
