DJ Code Money
Appearance
Template:Music-wikify DJ Code Money was the DJ for noted 80s rap artist Schoolly_D. The Philadelphia-based partnership released their first single in 1985, with "P.S.K. (What Does That Mean?)" With hypnotic beats, rough scratching and Schoolly's unblinking tales of the Park Side Killers ("I said 'You sucka-ass nigga, I should shoot you dead'"), this single is widely viewed as the first gangsta rap record.
Follow-up efforts, such as "Gucci Time" (famously sampled by the Beastie Boys on "Time To Get Ill"), "Put Your Filas On." and "Saturday Night" are also pivotal hip-hop sides.
