LACS1220 Intro to Latin American, Latinx, and Caribbean Studies
This course provides an interdisciplinary approach to ideas of Latin America “Caribbean”, and “Latinx”. The course focuses on five intertwined topics: 1, Area Studies vs. Ethnic Studies; 2, Key terms and Vocabulary; 3. Politics of violence; 4, Arts and literature; and 5, Current events.
More than to just acquire information, the goal of the class is to start to think critically about Latin America, Latin America”, “ the Caribbean”, and “Latinx America” by producing research of your own on Wikipedia.
The class is in English, however knowledge of Spanish, Spanglish, Portuguese, Kreyól, Indigenous Languages of .Americas are welcome contributions.
