The Gatsby Computational Neuroscience Unit is an academic research organization within University College London. It is supported by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation[1] and is closely associated with the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour[2]. It was founded in 1998[3] by Peter Dayan[4], Li Zhaoping[5], and Turing Award winner Geoffrey Hinton[6][7]. Researchers at the Gatsby Unit study machine learning and theoretical neuroscience. DeepMind was founded at the Gatsby Unit[8].
