My name is Michael, I live in Ontario, Canada and am currently studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Waterloo.
I also have made it a goal of mine to contribute primarily to the Calculus Wikibook, because I think I can actually write in a fashion than a regular guy with no prior knowledge on the subject can understand.
I've memorized pi to 50 digits because apparently that's all we need (i.e. You could calculate the circumference of a circle the size the of observable universe to a degree of accuracy less than the size of a proton).
Even though I really enjoy math, I didn't go into another field like computer engineering or pure mathematics. The reason is, a great deal of higher mathematics is lame. I first enjoyed the succinctness and precision of the field, but when I found the concept almost everywhere, that high regard was crushed.
