Contest vs. Game?

[edit]

There exists a separate category, Programming games. Many of the entries here (in Programming contests) really belong there (in Programming games) -- for example, Gridwars and Google AI Challenge. (Some entries are indeed in both places already, e.g. Core War, Robocode, etc.)

I believe the critical distinction is that a programming contest is where entries are judged (perhaps involving execution) on their stand-alone merits, where as programming games involve actually pitting entries against each other in a simultaneous execution. This is an important distinction to be made, so the articles listed in the two categories should be rigorously and accurately separated.
