Stimson's pythons (Antaresia stimsoni) are small snakes (up to about 90cm) found throughout many dry inland areas of Queensland, the Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia. They are generally nocturnal, feeding on small lizards, frogs and mammals. Females lay 7 to 9 eggs, wrapping around them to brood them for the entire incubation period.

They have 35 to 49 midbody scales, 240 to 305 ventral scales and 30 to 45 subcaudal scales. Their subcaudals are mostly or entirely divided, whereas their anal scale is single.
