PLP Architecture is an architecture and urban design practice with offices in London, Singapore and Tokyo, with a permanent presence in Milan and Amsterdam. The studio works globally, with ongoing projects in the UK, across continental Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Services include architectural design, urban design, industrial design, strategy (including placemaking and workplace) and research.

PLP Architecture’s work is supported by in-house research and innovation group PLP Labs, which helps develop novel solutions and thinking in collaboration with external partners.

The Practice

PLP Architecture is led by company President and Founding Partner Lee Polisano, Founding Partner Ron Bakker, and Chief Operating Officer Mark Kelly.

The studio comprises of approximately 150 employees, representing 37 nationalities and speaking 45 languages. In the UK’s survey on architecture practices, the AJ100, PLP Architecture were highlighted in 2024 as having one of the highest proportions of both female (54%) and ethnic-minority (35%) architects, amongst the UK’s leading 100 studios[1].

The firm's UK headquarters are located in the 1930s Art Deco Ibex House building in the City of London.

Projects

The Edge

In 2015, PLP completed the world's most sustainable office building according to the Building Research Establishment (BRE), The Edge, in Amsterdam.[2][3] Bloomberg has also called The Edge, "the smartest building in the world".[3]

22 Bishopsgate

22 Bishopsgate is the tallest tower in the City of London[4], a 61-storey multiple tenancy office tower developed by a consortium led by AXA Real Estate[5]. The building provides workspaces for approximately 11,500 people with 150,000sqf of shared and amenity space, including the highest free viewing galley in Europe[6], a gym, healthy food market hall, co-working spaces and conference facilities.

Tokyo Cross Park Vision

The Tokyo Cross Park is a new district redevelopment in Tokyo’s Uchisaiwaicho 1-Chome district. PLP Architecture are the master designer and placemaking strategist for the entire 1.1 million square metre development, as well as architect for two of the four mixed-use towers[7]. The development is currently under construction.

Bankside Yards

Bankside Yards, currently under development, is situated on the South Bank of the River Thames. The new neighbourhood will be the UK’s first fossil fuel-free major mixed-use development[8]. The masterplan, designed by PLP Architecture, will feature 8 buildings and public spaces, and include the regeneration of 150-year-old railway arches.

60 Curzon

Completed in late 2023, 60 Curzon is a super-luxury residential development in London’s Mayfair. The building sits on the site of the famed Mirabelle restaurant and features 32 apartments, including two penthouses, a two-storey townhouse, and a range of shared amenities[9]. Interiors were designed by the late Thierry Despont[10].

Collective Old Oak

In May 2016, PLP completed Collective Old Oak, the world's largest co-living building.[11][12] In addition to 546 co-living rooms, the project includes co-working, community and retail spaces on the lower floors, as well as two terraces and amenity spaces.[13]

Four Seasons Abu Dhabi

In February 2016, the Four Seasons Abu Dhabi, designed by PLP, opened on Al Maryah Island. Inspired by the textiles of the souk, the building is clad in a colorful pattern of vertical terracotta baguettes that shield the rooms from direct sunlight.[14]
