First observation nitpick

[edit]

von Magnus is the most cited author as being responsible for the observation of interference but in reality the first observations about viral interference were done by Leslie Chambers and Werner and Gertrude Henle in 1942 and 1943. In fact, von Magnus' first publication in 1947, a preliminary paper (https://www.cabidigitallibrary.org/doi/full/10.5555/19492701629), cites both papers (https://doi.org/10.1084/jem.77.3.251 and https://www.science.org/doi/abs/10.1126/science.98.2534.87.b) and confirms and extends their observations using PR8. Even the term interference was used by Henle first. Hrodrik (talk) 11:06, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
