Wikipedia:Overlapping policies and guidelines

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is an old revision of this page, as edited by John Broughton (talk | contribs) at 14:35, 6 April 2007 (Possible candidates for merging: guidelines: fixing wikilink and clarifying that one page is a guideline and one is an essay). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Wikipedia has a lot of policies and guidelines. Several of these overlap or are partially or wholly redundant with one another; this page serves as a list of those. It may be desirable to merge some of the pages listed here, although the community has rather strongly objected to merging policies in the past. This page lists suggested mergings, which are then discussed on the talk page here or the talk page of the involved pages.

You are welcome to add to this list. Please do not simply remove items from the list just because you believe they Should Not Be Merged, but instead discuss this on the talk page.
