Ashley Script is a typeface based on former Apple Computer employee Ashley Havinden's handwriting.

It was first featured in System 7 in 1990, mainly to show the capabilities of the TrueType font standard (bitmap fonts had no hinting or kerning, but TrueType had both).

Although it was eventually overshadowed by Skia in System 7.5, Kristen in Mac OS 8, and then Zapfino in Mac OS X, Ashley Script is still found in Mac OS X.
