Taxonomy
In 1950, the American botanist Bernice Schubert rejected the name Desmodium dillenii Darl. as a nomen confusum.[3] Schubert split the taxon into two distinct taxa, one of which was newly described as Desmodium perplexum.[1] The other taxon was given the name Desmodium glabellum (Michx.) DC.[4] As of February 2024[update], the name Desmodium dillenii Darl. is no longer in use.
