Misleading

As I recall, the DDN moniker was used to include all networks funded by the defense department, that is, ARPANET as well as MILNET. The clone for military use only was MILNET. Generally, during Republican administrations, it was necessary to put the word "Defense" in proposals to get funding. When Democrats were in power, you needed to take the word out. The ARPA->DARPA->ARPA->DARPA name swap is another example. Will try to grab some sources and fix to be accurate. W Nowicki (talk) 18:49, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
