Blankings, 9 April, 2006
1) This bot ("Conversion script") stopped on 19 July, 2002. But recently it woke up again, for 6 minutes, from 08:06-0812 on 9 April, 2006. (According to the User contributions page.) In that time it made 10 non-helpful and unexplained edits, mostly blanking of content, but some look like reversions.
2) Cool, one bit of damage done by "Conversion script" was immediately reverted by another bot, "Tawkerbot2". "Tawkerbot2" explained its edit AND left the following note here for "Conversion script". (It was not entirely obvious in context because the message lacks a greeting. It's a little confusing because "Tawkerbot2" doesn't know that it is talking to another bot.)
Your recent edit to Manual transmission was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to recognize and repair vandalism to Wikipedia articles. If the bot reverted a legitimate edit, please accept our apologies – if you bring it to the attention of the bot's owner, we may be able to improve its behavior. 3) Users reacted too:
And who is responsible for today's blanking? --tasc 08:09, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yea, did someone compromise this account? 68.39.174.238 04:28, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- I think so, after all, it made no edits after 2002, then in 2006 it started blanking pages. Also, at first (while blanking) it made no edit summaries, then it started leaving the previous types. So yes, I think it was compromised. Polonium 19:03, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
4) No one responsible for the "Conversion script" bot responded.
- Actually, the bot started again on January 15, 2005. I don't know if you noticed it, but it actually did. Also, the bot stopped on 26 July, 2002, NOT on 19 July, 2002. /HeyMid (contributions) 21:26, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
Pointless edit to a redirect page, 2002
(Old news.) See the History page for Transuranic element, which is a redirect page. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Transuranic_element&action=history
15:51, 25 February 2002 Conversion script (Talk) m (Automated conversion)
This changed "#REDIRECT [[transuranium element]]" to "#REDIRECT [[Transuranium element]]"
Every appearance of a pointless edit, something bots are not supposed to do.
This edit has the added disadvantage of being the second edit of a redirect page, which blocks the Move operation from moving the target page onto the redirect page. Did this bot ever do anything constructive? -Whiner01 06:59, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
Conversion script still hasn't got all the history
e.g. here. The Conversion script surely didn't write that article!!! (In fact, I'm pretty sure I did....) --SJK 12:21, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- I think this is explained on User:Conversion script -- Tim Starling 18:24, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs
Hello Conversion script! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 24 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:
- Kathryn H. Kidd - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- Ugo Nespolo - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
