What has Bresenham's line algorithm got to do with how an old Calcomp pen plotter works?

I can't believe nobody answered thus :-).

The plotter could only move in 8 directions. + or - X, +, or - Y, or a combination. To approximate any other line, such as a sine wave, Bresenham's algorithm was used by the software. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.185.239.243 (talk) 18:50, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
