Content fork from block cipher or generalize?

I see two ways forward to make this article more useful. Either merge the content into the block cipher article, or generalize it to discuss appearances of blocks in other cryptographic primitives, such as cryptographic hash functions and one-way compression functions in particular. I'm pretty sure people will favor the latter, so please improve this article! ;) Nageh (talk) 16:18, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
