This doesn't look right...

The alternative description seems wrong. Consider using it to encode the number 2: 2 is 2^1, so we would start by storing 1 with Elias Gamma encoding. However, that would mean the code would start with 1, while in fact the Elias delta code for 2 is 0100. -- 195.255.198.65 09:30, 18 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
