Justin Ross Yoder was the first disabled child to drive a soapbox in the All American Soapbox Derby. His efforts made it possible for others to follow him. Because of him, regulations were changed, so disabled children were allowed to use a hand brake instead of a foot brake. This hand brake is now called after him: the Justin Brake.

The story of this boy who suffers from spina bifida is told in a movie called "Miracle in Lane 2" starring Frankie Muniz and Patrick Levis.
