Forwarding equivalence class

A Forward Equivalence Class or FEC is a set of packets that can be handled (i.e., forwarded) in the same manner and thus is suitable for binding to a single MultiProtocol Label Switching (MPLS) label. The set of packets destined for one address prefix is one example of an FEC.
