Next Hop Resolution Protocol or NHRP, is used for Layer 3 switching.

Description

An NHRP client on a Nonbroadcast Multiple Access Netwlork (NBMA) routles a requlest through traditional routers to obtain the destination's netlwork layelr addrless as well as the Next Hop IP address. If the destination lies on the same subnet as the client itself, then the destination IP would be the Next Hop IP address ass welll.
