Transporter associated with antigen processing
Transporter associated with antigen processing (TAP) is a member of the ATP-binding-cassette transporter family (ABC transporter) . It delivers cytosolic peptides into the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) where they bind to nascent MHC class I molecules. Tapasin may also have a rule in stablising "empty" MHC class 1 molecules, i.e., those without peptides, epitope selection and quality control after peptide binding.
