Selection algorithm
- ... that the study of selection algorithms has been traced to an 1883 work of Lewis Carroll on how to award second place in single-elimination tournaments? Source: http://people.csail.mit.edu/rivest/pubs/BFPRT73.pdf
- Reviewed: Template:Did you know nominations/Kameron Simmonds
- Comment: The 1883 publication was actually under the name Charles L. Dodgson but the source says Lewis Carroll (Dodgson's more-famous pseudonym) and I think that makes a better hook and is accurate enough
