S&T Oriented High Schools otherwise known as ESEP (Engineering and Science Education Program) high schools, are specialized secondary schools in the Philippines heavily focusing a curicullum in Mathematics and Sciences but different from Regional Science High Schools and Philippine Science High School System. ESEP high schools are operated and supervised by the department of education. Currently, there were 110 existing ESEP high schools in the Philippines.

Comparison and Difference between ESEP HSs, RSHSs and PSHS System

ESEP High Schools, RSHSs and PSHS Systems, are secondary schools in the Philippines highly focusing a curicullum in math and sciences, research is also included in there curiculla. However, these three has a varying curicullum offerings. Both ESEP High Schools are operated by Department of Education, while PSHS is operated by Department of Science and Technology.

In ESEP high schools transferees are allowed provided the student is coming from a S&T high school, RSHSs or PSHS, while in RSHSs and PSHSs, transfering is only allowed if the student is from an RSHS going to another RSHS or a PSHS student transfering to another PSHS. ESEP- RSHS or ESEP to PSHS is not applicable but PSHS/RSHS/ESEP to ESEP is applicable.

Both PSHS and RSHS has a different grading system. ESEPs applies a grading system set by DepEd for secondary schools in the Philippines.

Each RSHSs recieve a separate yearly subsidy from department of education while ESEPs dont.

RSHS and PSHS has higher standard of science education than ESEP high schools.
