"COMSOL Multiphysics" is a comprehensive finite element analysis, solver, and simulation software package designed for a wide range of physics and engineering applications, particularly those involving coupled phenomena and multiphysics interactions. The software offers intuitive, physics-based user interfaces and supports the handling of coupled systems of partial differential equations (PDEs). With its integrated development environment (IDE) and cohesive workflow, COMSOL enables the seamless exploration of electrical, mechanical, fluid, acoustic, and chemical phenomena.

In addition to addressing conventional problems through its application modules, the core multiphysics package empowers users to tackle PDEs in their weak form. To extend its capabilities externally, COMSOL provides an API for Java, as well as LiveLink interfaces for MATLAB and major CAD software, allowing users to control the software programmatically. The software offers an Application Builder that facilitates the creation of custom simulation apps tailored to specific domains. Users can opt for drag-and-drop tools through the Form Editor or more advanced programming via the Method Editor.

For efficient management of COMSOL simulation applications within companies, there exists COMSOL Server, a separate software solution. COMSOL offers various modules, organized into categories such as Electrical, Mechanical, Fluid, Acoustic, Chemical, Multipurpose, and Interfacing, catering to different application areas.
