Dispute
On 8 September 2022, the special stamp manuscript of the Year of Gui Mao was released, which was designed by Huang Yongyu. According to the explanation of China Post, the first special stamp of Gui Maonian "describes a wise rabbit with a pen in his right hand and a letter in his left hand in an ingenious blue colour, as if it is conveying the good wishes of the New Year to people".[20] However, after the release of the stamp manuscript, it was questioned by netizens that the rabbit was painted as "demon in the demon", which was not cute enough.[21] However, some people praised Huang Yongyu's design, such as painter Han Meilin's praise for Huang Yongyu's novelty and bold design.[22] Hong Xinliang, a special commentator of Qianjiang Evening News, believes that the root cause of this incident is not Huang Yongyu, and the person who selected Huang Yongyu to create the "Year of Gui Mao" stamps also pointed out that the design of the zodiac stamps related to the annual topics should be publicized in advance and checked by the audience. On 5 January 2023, at an event sponsored by China Post Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Branch and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Museum in Nanning, Guangxi, a mascot based on a blue rabbit appeared in the venue, which once again aroused doubts among netizens. The staff of Guangxi Museum said that they had received feedback from parents about the blue rabbit mascot, and said that they did not know the activity process and had removed the mascot.[23][24]
