Frank Thayer Merrill

[edit]

Frank Merrill was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1848. He spent most of his life in Boston, working at a small studio at 16 Tremlett Street. He trained at the Lowell Institute Drawing School and illustrated a number of books for the Boston Publisher, Roberts Brothers. It was for Roberts that he produced illustrations for editions of Little Women in 1880 and for Little Men in 1885.

Apart from Merrill's marriage to Jessie Aldridge in 1881, little appears to have been recorded of his life.
