A tangled hierarchy is a system in which a strange loop appears.

Examples

Real-world examples of tangled hierarchies include doctor-patient relationships in which the patient must tell the doctor his internal feelings to allow the doctor to determine what must be done. Another example is a student who educates his teacher.
