Area code 239

Area code 239 is the North American telephone area code for a large area of Southwestern Florida. It includes Lee and Collier counties, small parts of Hendry and Charlotte counties and the Everglades National Park in Mainland Monroe County. It was created in 2003 as an area code split from area code 941.
At the 2020 NFL Honors, Fort Myers's Deion Sanders yelled "239" twice to Immokalee's Edgerrin James, when he was officially introduced as a member of the Pro football Hall of Fame. It is tradition that Hall of Famers introduce new enshrinees at the NFL Honors ceremony. [1]
