Article review

I liked the majority of the contents listed in the article. Statement followed by citations makes the clear understanding, as well as systematic. The biological description and genetics section of articles looks very clear and helpful for understanding. Some points I would like to suggest is to add relevant pictures in the article. As there are botanical terminologies, this could be helpful to understand the scientific and non scientific audiences. Section wise, root section and human use seems very little from my point of view. Therefore, adding some points with examples might make the article very interesting. Overall, I like the format and content of the article. Great job! Karkataceace (talk) 03:50, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your constructive comments and suggestions. I agree with your suggestion to include more pictures. Nearly all of my silphium pictures were taken of capitula at different developmental stages, and I now include one of them in the article. In addition, I tried to define more of the scientific jargon such as "heritable" and "biomass" so that the article is easier to read for a non-scientific audience. I also added some more information and references to the text about roots and human uses. In response to other comments, I have combined many of the subsections, so hopefully, the article appears less sparse in general. TigerTrash (talk) 15:27, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Article Review - BC

I really like the whole structure of article; like outline and descriptions. The way of explaining the growth patterns of Silphium seems very clear and described in a good way. I also suggest to add some pictures (specially biological terms like achene, root system of Silphium, reproductive parts, etc.), that could be useful for the broader content in the article. Moreover, some general topics like introduction and domestication of Silphium can be further expand. I really like overall way of presenting the article. You really did a great job. Best wishes further! Ctngirl (talk) 04:27, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your constructive comments and suggestions. I added a picture of a silphium capitulum, but nearly all of my pictures of silphium are very similar, focusing on the capitula at different developmental stages. I have also combined many of the subsections for Description and Genetics so that the article appears less sparse overall. In addition, I added material to the part of the text previously labeled Domestication per your suggestion. TigerTrash (talk) 15:30, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Article Review

I like the description you added characterizing the differences in kernel in different geographical regions. If you have pictures that show the differences it would be interesting to add. The genetic characterization is really good, easy to follow and to understand. If possible, I would suggest adding pictures of the morphological descriptions, such as the kernel, wing, leaf type and as it will aid on better identification of characteristics not only on your draft but also on the Silphium integrifolium published article. Another recommendation would be linking technical words to other pages on wiki, such as "capitulum", "wing dsarea", "environment repeatability", etc, as it helps people that are unfamiliar with the terms to make connections. Lastly, it may be beneficial to add a explicit sentence identifying what are the desired characteristics been selected for and why. For example, are they selecting for stalk numbers? Why? Overall, I think your article will greatly improve what is currently available on Wiki. Great job. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Huginnscientia (talkcontribs) 04:26, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
