"Don't Mess with Bill"
Song

Don't Mess With Bill is a song written by Smokey Robinson. It was a huge hit for The Marvelettes in 1966, after it was released December 1965 on Tamla Records as single 54126. The song, with Wanda Young as leadsinger, made it to #7 on the Popcharts and #3 on the R&B charts. The B-side of the single was Anything You Wanna Do. The "Bill" mentioned in the title of the song doesn't refers to Willam "Smokey" Robinson. Robinson chose the name Bill because it sang well. "Don't Mess With Bill" has also been recorded and released by Monalisa Young.
