May be give a better motivation for these codes. Furthermore, these codes are either "Geometric Goppa codes" or "algebraic geometry codes", which are better terms then the term "Goppa codes" which usually refers to the codes used in the classical McEliece cryptosystem.

FWIW, note that this page was previously moved by User:Charles Matthews from Algebraic Geometric Coding Theory to Goppa code, saying "the new title is badly chosen; the upper case is against convention, and there is no reason to have a more abstract title". It had previously been moved from the latter to the former: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&logid=4459966 saying "The new title is the more widely used form of the same thing". ★NealMcB★ (talk) 20:05, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
