ACM Conference on Recommender Systems (ACM RecSys) is a peer-reviewed academic conference series about recommender systems.[1] Sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery, this conference focuses on issues such as algorithms, machine learning, human-computer interaction, and data science from an multi-disciplinary perspective. The conference community includes computer scientists, statisticians, social scientists, psychologists, and others.[2]

The conference is sponsored by Big Tech companies such as Amazon[3], Netflix, Meta, Nvidia[4], and Spotify[5], and large foundations such as the NSF.[6]

While an academic conference, RecSys tends to attract many practitioners and industry researchers, with industry attendance making up the majority of attendees[7], this is also reflected in the authorship of research papers[8][9]. Many works published at the conference have direct impact on recommendation and personalization approaches used by industry[10][11][12][13][14], with some recent papers published at the conference being considered breakthroughs in machine learning or related fields.[15][16]

The conference is the host of the ACM RecSys Challenge, a yearly challenge in the spirit of the Netflix Prize focussing on a specific recommendation problem. The Challenge has been organized by companies such as Twitter[17], Spotify[18], trivago[19], and XING.
