Audio-to-video synchronization
Audio to Video Synchronization refers to the timing between the sound (audio) and image (video) in respect to electronic signals which carry television programs. Although mis-synchronized audio and video create which is commonly referred to as lip sync errors in viewed programs, the term is more properly used in conjunction with the audio and video signals themselves without reference to the sound and images which are being carried. Audio to Video Synchronization is more commonly called A/V sync or audio video sync in the professional television industry. Audio to Video Synchronization is commonly corrected and maintained with an audio synchronizer. Television industry standards organizations have established acceptable amounts of audio and video timing errors and suggested practices related to maintaining acceptable timing [1][2].
