Wikipedia:Adopt-a-typo/Cite template parameters

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Jason Quinn (talk | contribs) at 14:23, 25 July 2022 (archive-url: DONE). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

This page is intended to help editors discover typos and other issues to fix related to parameters used by citation templates used for referencing on Wikipedia. Each link searches for a particular problem. Errors deemed common are in bold.

Each entry can be dated by the last time it was "nursed". As time since the last nursing increases, the link's background color will change each year its neglected, starting with light yellow, then yellow, then orange, and finally red. If you clear an entry's results of issues, be sure to update the source code of the entry with the date you did it to reset this coloring back to the default background. Notes can be added that display in tooltips upon hover to let other editors know what's going on with a particular entry and who's fixing things.

access-date

|access-date= (alias |accessdate=) — used to indicate date a cite template's |url= parameter was last successfully accessed.

Log

  • User:Jason Quinn cleaned all search results for all Wiki-projects on November 22, 2020. The frequency of the new search hits since the last time I cleaned all of these was consistent with my previous bolding.

publisher

|publisher= — used to indicate the publisher

Log

  • User:Jason Quinn cleaned all but one search results on November 23, 2020 (except for "publishe" which has many hits to fix). All these were just a handful or less instances to fix, most of them had zero hits. Quick and easy group. Bolded only one term which just barely hit my threshold for bolding.

location

|location= — used to indicate where the book was published

Log

Nothing done yet

archive-url

|archive-url= (alias |archiveurl=) — used to give the URL of an archive of the content given by |url=.

Log

  • User:Jason Quinn cleaned all search results for all Wiki-projects on July 25, 2022. These seem to be rare misspellings. Most hits were strange and led to parameters that were commented out and had a site that still uses HTTP which Firefox flags as a security risk. I just removed those code comments.
