Unrecognized state

An unrecognized state may be:

• A state whose sovereignty is not universally recognized by other states, particularly members of the United Nations; see List of states with limited recognition
• A proclaimed state that is not recognized by any other state and does not have de facto control over its claimed territory; see

  • Quasi-state, especially secessionist and insurgent proto-states
