Punyark (Sun Temple)
The Punyark[1] Sun temple is a Gupta period [2] temple dedicated to the worship of Sun God Suryadev[3].It is the only Sun temple in Bihar situated on the banks of the holy river Ganges[4].
History
The temple is said to have been built by Samba[5] who was the son of Krishna[6]and his second consort Jambavati[7].
Location
The temple is situated in Pandarak village which falls under Barh[8] subdivision of Patna district[9]. Pandarak is situated along the southern bank of river Ganges[10], nearly eighty kilometers east of city of Patna[11], in the state of Bihar[12].
