Punyark (Sun Temple)

The Punyark Sun temple is a Gupta period [1] temple dedicated to the worship of Sun God 'Suryadev'.

History

The temple is said to have been built by Samba[2] who was the son of Krishna[3]and his second consort Jambavati.

Location

The temple is situated in Pandarak village which falls under Barh[4] subdivision of Patna district[5]. Pandarak is situated along the southern bank of river Ganges[6], nearly eighty kilometers east of city of Patna[7], in the state of Bihar[8].
