Wikipedia:WikiProject Categories/Current subprojects
Current projects
These are current Categorization projects. Volunteers to these projects are very welcome. Please list only the main page of the category and not subcategories (For example, list World War II, but not World War II people, etc.) Please also list categorization-related WikiProjects as appropriate.
Top-Level/TOC Categories
Currently there are three top level categories:
Somebody else added Category:Dewey Decimal Classification to Category:Categories, so, following the instructions there, I have mentioned it here. Brianjd 09:31, 2004 Dec 19 (UTC)
- I added to the top level category, because it is the fundamental classification scheme used in all the libraries across the world. I think that makes it a more than valid way of classifying wikipedia. I suppose as an additional point, Wikipedia's policy is NPOV, and since from a philosophical point of view reality can be categorised in many different ways, Wikipedia should not advocate a single category system. :ChrisG 13:00, 19 Dec 2004 (UTC)
That someone else is ChrisG (talk). I have left a note on their user talk page. Brianjd 12:58, 2004 Dec 19 (UTC)

The cached list displays the first 1000 entries. Some of the years that filled it up have now been categorized. See Wikipedia talk:Special:Uncategorizedpages.
There are two specialized lists:
Auto-categorization
The easiest way to classify articles is when they have been pre-sorted by topic by a script. See Wikipedia:Auto-categorization.

Coming out of the Wikipedia_talk:Forum_for_Encyclopedic_Standards#Source_category] discussion. Basically going to try and organise all the material about reference sources in some sort of logical fashion. Months of work ahead obviously; but the idea would be to make it a useful way of navigating Wikipedia. :ChrisG 10:21, 30 Nov 2004 (UTC)
