@LouScheffer: Hi! You are a major contributor to this article. I've read an intro and I have to say that the text is bascally verbatim copied from a Electronic Design Automation for IC Implementation, Circuit Design, and Process Technology book (p. 692). Hi! This is a reasonable concern, but I'm an author of the text, and I got explicit permission from the publisher to put an introduction to the subject on Wikipedia, using text from the book.
