The ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology is a professional association of engineers and technologists, policy makers, the public, and the private sectors from Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states.[1] It was founded in 2004[2] and was registered with the ASEAN Secretariat as an affiliated Civil Society Organization (CSO) on 11 July 2007.[3]
Objectives
AAET’s main objective is to contribute combined intellect and experience of its members in academia, government and industry for the economic advancement of the ASEAN region and its people in sustainable manner. The member fellows of AAET are eminent engineers, technologists and industrialists from the ten ASEAN member states.
Fellowships
Fellowship of the academy is awarded to individuals from academia, research institutes, industry, and government who have demonstrated successful leadership or outstanding contributions to engineering and technology over an extended period. Fellowship of the AAET comprises of two categories, namely:
- Voting-Fellows which comprise of:
- Distinguished Fellow;
- Senior Fellows; and
- Ordinary Fellows.
- Non Voting-Fellows which comprise of:
- Distinguished Honorary Fellows;
- Honorary Fellows;
- Foreign Fellows; and
- Associate-Fellows.[4]
Post-Nominal Letters
Each category of Fellows of the Academy shall be entitled to use the respective post-nominal letters as follows:
- Distinguished Honorary Fellow: D. Hon. FAAET
- Honorary Fellow: Hon. FAAET
- Distinguish Fellow: D. FAAET
- Senior Fellow: SFAAET
- Ordinary Fellow: FAAET
- Foreign Fellow: FAAET(F)
- Associate Fellow: AFAAET
Distinguished Fellows and Senior Fellows shall be entitled to use the honorary title of “Academician”.
