Needs rewriting

This section needs to be updated, as Embedded Java covers much more than Java ME and Sun SPOT alone -- it also covers embedded use of Java on top of Java platforms such as JavaCard and Java SE.--— Preceding unsigned comment added by Cblucasius (talkcontribs) 18:06, 16 July 2011

Missing many things

Like the german version of this article this is also a very bad article (to me one of the worst articles in Wikipedia). It is missing a chronology - e.g. ME is described but e.g. PersonalJava is missing and also some examples for hardware where it was used (e.g. Motorola Blackbird/Streamaster where prototypes had just 8 MB RAM). The meaning of "embedded" in Java context is not well described. Also programming aspects (e.g. String vs. StringBuffer vs. StringBuilder) are not explained to give a better picture what it actually means. Some related topics like Java processors with JVM in hardware are not mentioned. IMHO here are a lot of things to fix and add.
