Purpose: To neatly organise the micronations that have articles on Wikipedia into a single/multiple list(s). How: By defining what reliable sources do and don't refer to as a micronations, and which notable places (historical or present) that definition applies to.

Requirements

  • Must be referred to as a micronation by a significant number of academic or reliable third party sources (e.g. international news, Lonely Planet)
  • Must be notable enough to have (or be eligable for) its own Wikipedia article (e.g. international news, multiple academic sources)

Article sections

  • Intro: Summary of what a micronation is, how the term is ambiguous, what the list includes and what it intentionally leaves out.
  • S1-Historical: Individual coverage of the notable micronations created before the usage of the term "micronation" (~pre-1978), followed by a table clearly summarising the information mentioned (see below parameters).
  • S2-Modern: Broad coverage of the notable micronations created following the first usage of the term (includes the first contemporary place to be referred to as such), followed by a table (see below parameters).
  • Possible parameters for table:
    • Name
    • Flag/Symbol (can be CoA or other symbol that is/was used by the micronation as identification)
    • Period (date founded – date abolished/abandoned)
    • Soverign State(s) (the UN-recognised country/countries or area(s) (e.g. Antarctica) that the micronations claim territory from)
    • Founder (with claimed title, link (if there is one) and lifespan)
    • Sources (any relevant sources for the table).
