What does it even mean to be "using MVCC"?

Does said database need to expose the capabilities of MVCC to the end-user? Or could the database simply be using MVCC as an implementation detail?

For example, etcd exposes MVCC https://etcd.io/docs/v3.5/learning/api/#revisions, where as MVCC is an implementation detail in MongoDB https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/core/wiredtiger/

I believe this list is more useful if we only list databases if they expose MVCC. Therefore I will be removing MongoDB. Feel free to counter and re-add.

AWS Redshift

Should AWS Redshift be in this list? xander (talk) 11:36, 28 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Terminology

I know it is common to confuse the two, strictly speaking I think this is a list of database management systems, not databases. That is, a list of software systems that one can use to create databases, not the actual collection of data that a DBMS manages. W Nowicki (talk) 00:15, 3 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
