In computing WDM stands for Windows Driver Model. It provides a framework for device drivers that operate under Windows 98/Me/Xp/2k and Server2003. WDM drivers are layered in a complex heirarchy and communicate with each other via IO Request Packets IRP's.

WDM drivers usally support atleast the follwing:

  • Power Management
  • Plug & Play
  • Windows Management Instrumentation
