Dnipro is Ukrainian prospective surface-to-air missile of middle range. The medium-range Dnipro anti-aircraft missile system, which has been under development since 2012. Initially, it was planned for installation on corvettes of project 58250 (Volodymyr Velykyi-class corvettes). First test examples should be ready in 2014.
In 2014, a surface-launched version began development.
December 1, 2016 was posted a message about successful launches of cruise missiles Neptune and anti-aircraft missiles Dnipro at a training range in the southern of Ukraine.[1]
The Dnipro SAM includes a combat control point, a multifunctional radar 1L220U, as well as launchers. The base for them are armored vehicles KrAZ-6322. It should be noted that the multifunctional radar station is designed by the technology of active phased array antennas and provides a target detection range of 150 km.
SAM "Dnipro" can simultaneously fire 12 guided (ZR-27) missiles at 6 targets. The anti-aircraft missiles used in the complex are developed on the basis of the artem-manufactured R-27EP1 air-to-air missile, two modifications: with command telecontrol on the initial and middle sections of the trajectory and active homing on the final section and with radio correction of guidance on the initial and middle sections and active homing in final phase.
