Father Lazarus El Anthony is an Australian Coptic Orthodox Christian monk in Egypt.

Lazarus El Anthony was born in Australia and used to be an atheist.[1][2] He taught philosophy at a university in Tasmania. After his mother died, moved to Egypt to become a hermit in a mountain located near Monastery of Saint Anthony in Suez Governorate of eastern Egypt.

Lazarus El Anthony has been extensively interviewed on the Coptic Youth channel.[3] He has also been featured in a full-length episode of the BBC's Extreme Pilgrim,[4] and in The Last Anchorite, a documentary film by Egyptian filmmaker Remigiusz Sowa.[5] Another documentary film about Lazarus El Anthony is Desert Foreigners.[6]
