Secure Data Recovery Services is a privately held company with corporate headquarters in California, which provides data recovery services. Secure Data Recovery Services was the first data recovery company to achieve SSAE 16 Type II certification.[1] The SSAE 16 Type II Certification is an updated version of the SAS 70 standards, which the company had also previously held. SSAE 16 reports (also known as "SOC 1" reports) retain the original purpose of SAS 70 by providing a means of reporting on the system of internal control particularly as it relates to internal control over financial reporting (ICFR).[2] It is also the only company in the data recovery industry to have a certified Class 10 ISO 4 Cleanroom.[3] They are also certified to perform data recovery by Hitachi, Seagate, IBM, Toshiba, Maxtor, Fujitsu, Lacie, and other hard drive manufacturers.[4]

History

Secure Data Recovery Services began operations in 2007 with the establishment of its first lab facility in Los Angeles, California.[5][6] Additional labs in Cleveland, Ohio and Toronto, Ontario in Canada, soon followed, each with Class 10 ISO 4 cleanrooms and advanced data security standards and certifications.[7] The company now provides professional data recovery services to companies and organizations around the world.[8]

Secure Data Recovery began offering digital forensics services in 2014, and the company added new products and services including several do-it-yourself Windows-based data recovery software solutions in 2016.[9] Under its Secure Forensics brand,[10] Secure Data Recovery Services provides computer forensics, expert testimony, incident response, and eDiscovery services in addition to its data recovery services.[7]

Secure Data Recovery Services maintains more than 250 business partnerships[11] across North America, including the B&H Photo NYC Superstore[12] in downtown Manhattan.

Security certifications

In September 30, 2011, Secure Data Recovery Services became the first company from the data recovery sector to be awarded the Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) 16 Type II Certification.[13] The SSAE 16 Type II is given by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. SSAE / SSA certifications became important for data handlers after the passage of Sarbanes–Oxley Act of 2002.

Secure Data Recovery Services is McAfee Secured and tested daily.[14] The privacy statement is validated and approved by the TRUSTe Organization.[15] It is also verified by VeriSign.[16] Secure Data Recovery is one of the few data recovery companies to have Extended Validation SSL on its site.[17]

On October 2, 2017, the company earned SSAE 18 SOC 2 Type II & SOC 3 certifications.[18]

Partner certifications

Secure Data Recovery is a certified partner of Intel,[19] Lenovo,[20] IBM, Symantec, and AMD, as well as a Gold Certified partner of Microsoft.[21] Other major certified partners include Seagate, AMD, Iomega, Dell, Symantec, VMware, and HP.

Awards and achievements

Secure Data Recovery Services is a member of ACRBO, the Association of Computer Repair Business Owners. It is also a member within the IEEE, ISSA and PPA Member and, over the years, the company website has posted over one hundred customer testimonial letters.[22]

In May 2011, Secure Data Recovery were granted a rating of A by the Better Business Bureau.[23] In 2012, TopTenReviews rated Secure Data Recovery Services with 10 out of 10 points for its features, security, recovery capabilities, and help and support.
