I would like to submit my interest in applying to the master’s Program in Business Development and Internationalisation at your university in Umeå.

Ever since my graduation with a 2nd class upper division from Plymouth university UK my dream has been to widen my knowledge to an international level. The bachelor program I completed there was Operations and Logistics Business management.

My first exposure to real life work in the field of logistics was my first job in Hellman worldwide logistics, I gained necessary experience and contributed to the company by creating strong relationships together with stake holders to ensure the smooth flow of the movement of shipments. This currier opportunity not only gave me an excellent insight to the logistics field, it also gave an outstanding opportunity to explore different working methods and practice the knowledge I gained at the university. The most significant of all is the good communication skills I gained and the amazing opportunity of experiencing the European marketing strategies in the logistic fields.

At my second workplace CEF logistics I took the initiative to develop sea and air fright operations by giving leadership for the operations team. We developed a new trade lane by promoting sea to air transshipments via Colombo to US and Europe sector in collaboration with agents from Bangaladesh. The greatest achievement in my currier is the strong agent network that I could build and introducing ERP systems which increased our operations in a smoother way.  

During these few years of my work currier, I realized that Logistics could play a major role in supply chain of agricultural field. This is one of the major reasons that made me interest in researching on how to promote our local agricultural market to an international level and I believe my further studies in this field would widen my knowledge to reach my expectations in my future goals.  

Something I realized throughout my background in agriculture is the need of building a platform to widen the possibilities in marketing of organicagricultural products. Due to the insufficient knowledge the farmers have in marketing and logistic methods, it has been a challenge for them to reach a good market value for their product. After my Bsc and starting a new carrier in the logistics field made me concerned in building and maintaining a business strategy that can lead to guide the local Sri lanken farmers in the rural areas. My motivation is to create strategies that the farmers can adapt to increase their sales according to the expectations and needs of the market and how they can maintain profitable business in an environmentally friendly manner. Therefore, I see that further studying on developing the knowledge about strategy, entrepreneurship, networking, and international growth in established and new businesses would be an exciting challenge with my goals that I want to pursue in my future.

With the knowledge I gather after my Msc I intent to take our Sri Lankan agricultural products to ainternational level. By practicin a modern environmental concept in both local and international markets it will be possible to make use of a new format of business. By integrating all economic subjects involved such as manufactures, suppliers, shipping and logistics companies, consumers, and other stakeholders into a single environmental cycle. Therefore, my goal is to develop a “Biodynamic Logistics” concept which will be a sustainable supply chain solution which serve the Organic and Natural Food exports and farmers. Biodynamic farming which is the next step after organic farming and this uplifts sustainable agriculture by conserving natural resources and gives the ability to connect with the current as well as the future generations to meet their needs.

Through this concept we can develop sustainable logistics by eliminating food wastage through packing solutions, reduce carbon emission through consolidated trucking and freight options, price negotiations with carriers for immediate transit options. To get international business knowledge to help organic food products exporters and farmer by creating global agents and carrier network to meet sustainable goals through supply chain and logistics activities.  Also, it helps to develop cooperate social responsibility on the principles of economical, ecological, and social sustainability to create opportunities for future generations.

The sensitive and responsible to people, communities, and environment. Through these principles of a sustainable development, we ensure the future of our business.

Since my intention is to help farmers and exporters reach the international market and enhance the supply of goods with global logistics with the local bio farm products this would satisfy my purpose of globalizations process in building a career in international business. Due to this fact, but also due to the current shortage of chemical free farm products in the international market, I would like to become a professional in International Business with a wide practical and theoretical base.

I have taken several steps and done some research to reach my goals in creating a platform to combine the agricultural field in sri lanka with the international market through effective logistics platform. My research on bio dynamic agricultural product growing made me learn how to use different tools and methods to not only grow chemical free products but also to give the farmers the knowledge and support from logistic field so that they can create a better market for their products for their local enterprises. My research project was also focused on how to create an international market segmentation of the Sri lanken market of agricultural bio products. It came to my knowledge that to survive and be gainful, the international company must be extremely flexible and adaptive to competitive environment. In that line I have designed my goals and intend to gain more knowledge throughout my studies to find adaptation strategies for international companies to utilize for Sri Lankan market of Bio agricultural products.

Studying abroad would give me more opportunities to widen my knowledge and gain more experience in the international market. Since there are multinational students at the Umeå university this would create opportunities to learn other culturesand to build up interesting discussion and do comparisons with other students.

With my present knowledge and experience I believe I have a solid foundation, and after the master’s program my intention is to combine the logistics and supply chain management to an international and local level.

That the program takes up the theoretical and practical knowledge about entrepreneurship, networking and that it also includes sustainability and internationalization aspects which would help the competitiveness for a business.

The program covers the importance of innovation which I think is an important key to the success of any company’s survival. By using innovative strategies in the business, we would have the possibility to see the necessary steps which needs to take in order the improve the quality of a business. I believe through this course I would get the opportunity to learn different techniques to make the business in a affective way.

LanguageTool is a free and open-source grammar, style, and spell checker, and all its features are available for download. LanguageTool website connects to a proprietary sister project LanguageTool Plus, which provides improved error detection for English and German, as well as easier revision of longer texts, following the open-core model.

It was started by Daniel Naber for his diploma thesis in 2003 (then written in Python). It now supports 31 languages, each developed by volunteer maintainers, usually native speakers of each language. Based on error detection patterns, rules are created and then tested for a given text.

The core app itself is free and open-source, and can be downloaded for offline use. Some languages use 'n-gram' data, which is massive and requires considerable processing power and I/O speed, for some extra detections. As such, LanguageTool is also offered as a web service that does the processing of 'n-grams' data on the server side. LanguageTool Plus also uses n-grams as part of its freemium business model.

LanguageTool web service can be used via a web interface in a web browser, or via a specialized client-side plug–ins for Microsoft Office, LibreOffice, Apache OpenOffice, Vim, Emacs, Firefox, Thunderbird, and Google Chrome. Its web app client can also be integrated on websites.
